Lion is getting all the supplies he needs to have a base station for his ham radio. His theory is that he can’t hear anyone on the radio because the signal isn’t strong enough. That requires an antenna mounted on the roof. Well, the chimney, at least. I don’t understand the purpose of the handheld radio. When I was talking about being separated from him in an emergency, he said we don’t need a radio in the car. Huh? Isn’t the handheld radio one more thing I have to lug along with me in case of emergencies? Anyway, I digress.
Every time he talks to me about the radio, he gets upset when I don’t understand what he means. He’s been researching it. I give less than half a crap about it, but I’m trying to understand anyway. I’d think asking questions would be a good thing. I’m trying to get my head wrapped around how the antenna is being mounted. I haven’t seen pictures of any part of it. Again, he’s been researching it. It’s important because I’m going to be hanging off a ladder to mount it.
This is not what I thought I’d be doing on my long weekend. Lion offered to hire our handyman to do it, but that seems like a waste of money. I can climb a ladder. I can put up mounting brackets. Easy as pie. (Did you hear my eyes roll just then?) Lion thinks he can help. I don’t see how he’s going to stand on uneven ground and hand me the antenna. Nope. It’s a one-lioness show.
Once I get that done, I want to fix the mount for our weather station. It’s been tipping, so we don’t get an accurate reading for rainfall. If there’s one thing we have, it’s rainfall. That involves a ladder too. Let’s see how ambitious I am. The other outside chores are weed whacking and moving some stones near the front sidewalk. They’re a tripping hazard for Lion. There are rocks all over the place. I’ve been annoyed with them since we moved in. Time for them to go.
I’m so glad I have an extra day off.
