Lion thinks he knows what he wants. He says he wants me to punish him when he annoys me. First of all, if I did that in the current climate, I don’t know if he’d ever not be punished. That’s obviously hyperbole. I think his punishments would increase at least twenty five percent.
Case in point: we had to take his car in for an oil change. My Saturday off is spent doing something I don’t want to do. I know he doesn’t want to do it either and I’m not a child. I know adulting is hard and you have to do things you don’t want to do. But it’s just another thing in a long list of things.
We got to the lounge area and found some seats. I told Lion to sit and that I’d be back in a few minutes. I was going to drool over a Tacoma sitting in the showroom. I had one some years ago and I wanted to get a newer one but Lion convinced me to get a Ford F-150 which I was happy with until he convinced me we needed a F350 diesel. Anyway, I wanted to see the updated, updated Tacoma.
When I got back to the lounge area, Lion was still standing. Didn’t I tell him he could sit. He was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get past the coffee table to sit so he waited. Considerate, but annoying. How long would he have waited?
I told him I’d been drooling over a Tacoma. I said I didn’t sit in it because then I would have wanted it and I would have had to trade his car for it. He said his car is registered to him. No concern for whether I was serious.
At this point, I’m of the mind that Lion gets what Lion wants, or at least what Lion needs. Maybe that’s not a fair assessment. Maybe I’m just allowing myself to continue to be frustrated by work and home. But that’s my perception right now.
So should I let Lion get what he wants again? Should I give him what he says he wants? Should I punish him when he annoys me? Can either of us handle that?
Im going back to drool over the Tacoma.
